Each unit is a duplex with a keyed dead bolt in between. Each unit has a lake view. You'll find comfortable chairs on your porch for watching the sunrise.
Inside you'll find a spacious sitting area with a fold out sofa and a table with chairs plus you're private washroom (toilet, shower, sink). Nothing like a hot shower after a long - busy day of being out on the lake! In the back of the cabin, you'll find 3 - 4 beds.
How does my family reach me in the even of an emergency?
The fastest way for your family to reach you in the event of an emergency would be by email. Urgent letters can be flown to you if you are on the lake (extra fee). Otherwise, all others will be delivered to your room.
Is there internet or cell phone access?
There is internet service for an additional fee. Check with DJ or Dawn. Some cell phone service may be picked up in La Ronge, but there isn’t any cell service at the lodge.
I want to bring alcohol and /cigarettes across the border. Will this be a problem?
You can bring 1 carton, and 1 pack per legal age of each. Anything above that, you will have to pay duty. If your driving, check  to see if the border (your crossing) has a duty free store. You can purchase items there. Also be aware of the border hours. Some locations are closed in the late evenings.
If I have a DUI or other offenses on my record,will I have a problem crossing  through Canadian customs?  
 Customs have become more strict due to 9/11. If you have anything on
 your record, it's better to call Canada Border Crossing Services
at 1-800-438-7020. It's best to do this at your earliest convenience - the
sooner the better.
In talking to the Government, they explained that you MUST be as honest as possible. They already have access to your records & chances are they are checking your character. Do I need to bring bedding?
No, we supply bedding including pillows, towels, toilet paper, hand & body soap.
What should I bring?
Weather is always unpredictable,  May - June & Aug - Sept bring a warm jacket, hat & gloves. June (end of) - Aug.  warm, sweater may be needed in the evenings. Other items: hiking boots, water shoes, camera, batteries, film, video camera & personal items. 
Are the bugs bad during the warm months?
We have not had a problem with bugs around camp, however, they're
 mild in the woods.
If I wanted to exchange my American money for my trip, how would I do that?
It is best if you give your financial institution advance notice, and exchange your funds with them before you leave. Keep in mind all purchases at Black Bear are in US funds.
When do I pay the rest of my bill?
The day of your departure.
Can I book a cabin for light house keeping only?
Sorry, we have American plan packages only.
May I bring my family?
Absolutely! We have rates for families, however, there are no day care facilities. For safety/ liability purposes, age 17 & under must be attended by the guardian who brought them at all times. A responsible adult must bunk in the same cabin as the person age 17 and under.

No, this is due to liability, however, all trained assistance dogs must have their work papers, and must wear the appropriate attire during your entire visit. You must have these items presented for the following:
    1)  Check-in at Waterbase Inn
    2) Arrival at the lodge.
Please let us know if this is your situation, so we can accommodate you more comfortably.
How many beds are there in each cabin?
Our cabins / units can sleep 3 - 6 people. Each building is a duplex.
Generally,  tips are $25.00 a day for fishing. For hunting it depends on your satisfaction. When tipping the house-keeping  & kitchen staff, it is best to allow your hosts to disperse equally among them (in your name) - you may not be aware of all the kitchen staff employees.
Our staff strives to do their best to make this a trip to remember for a life time. They understand that a tip is earned not expected, and is most appreciated.

Do you have freezers available?

Yes.
No, please provide your own cooler if you are wanting to take fish home.
May I hunt with my camera only?
Yes, let us know upon your arrival. If it’s during hunting season, we can provide a stand as well.
We have beer available for purchase. If you are wanting something in particular, please contact us 2 weeks in advance with your request or we recommend that you stop at the liquor store at the far end of town. 
There are stores in Prince Albert as well.

We have a store at the lodge which supplies chips, pop, candy, beer, fishing tackle, clothing, film, cameras, ect... none of which is included in your price package.
How do I book a date?
We require a $500.00 deposit per person.  We can NOT hold dates. All deposits are ~ Non refundable ~ Non transferable  
What other wildlife might I see?
Where do I get my hunting & fishing license?
Eagles, moose, seagulls, beaver, and wolves just to name a few.

How many people do you have per guide?
We have 2 guests per guide. An additional fee will be added to single occupancy guests.

Yes, there is a $240.00 charge extra per day.
May I hold a date until I get a group together?
A booked date is only when we have a $500.00 deposit from each person in your party. Sorry, we cannot hold dates. Group member add ons are dependent on availability.
What are your cabins like?
Northwest accepts packages containing 4 lbs. (2 kg) or less of dry ice as carry-on or checked luggage. Dry ice is accepted under the following conditions:
    *The container or package must be hard plastic and must be
      ventilated to permit the release of carbon dioxide gas.
    *The container or package must be clearly labeled as containing dry
      ice.

Should I bring my own food?
Breakfast is served at 7 AM in the main lodge every morning. Your guide will prepare shore lunch for you around noon.
Dinner will be served to all angler guests at 7 PM. All hunters will receive dinner starting around 10PM. Once you have harvested your bear, please notify the kitchen staff (at least 12 hours prior to dinner) if your wanting to change to the 7 PM meal.
If your group has not checked in with the waterbase by 5:15PM, plan to have dinner in LaRonge, prior to coming to Black Bear.
Snacks & drinks are available in the Black Bear store.
