Where do I go to catch my float plane ride to the lodge?
We use the services of RISA AIR (WATER BASE) 615 LA RONGE Ave
Once you arrive in La Ronge, turn right on Brown St (Co-op Gas Station). At the light, turn left onto La Ronge Ave.
About a quarter mile, you”ll find it on the right.

Where are you located?
We are located approximately 20 miles North of La Ronge, Saskatchewan, Canada.
How long have you been established?
DJ and Dawn have operated BBIL since fall of 2001.
What do I need to do to book a trip?
Your deposit of $750 for fishing or $1,000 for hunts (non-refundable, non transferable) per person will hold your dates. The balance is due the day you leave the lodge.
How many people do you accommodate at a time?
We like to get to know all of our guests, so we keep our max at 25.
How does your fishing and hunting package work?
You will fish half of the day and hunt the other half of the day. The hunt depends on when the bears are moving. All our hunts include fishing.
What if I only want to fish - no hunting?
We have fish only trips as well. We have several packages for fishing. They include 3, 5 and 7 day trips.
May I bring my children and our family pet?
We set aside the end of July and the month of August for families. Most of our guides have children, they work well and enjoy family dynamics. Our facility offers fishing and horseshoe, but that's the extent of activities. There's no daycare, phone, internet, or TV available without adult supervision. Adult is considered at least 19. All children must be supervised within their party of adults at all times. Although we love seeing younger generations appreciate the outdoors experience, Black Bear Island Lodge is not responsible for your children.
Pets: No pets are allowed at Black Bear Island Lodge.
What should I bring?
We recommend the following: passport (most for anyone traveling from outside of Canada), rain gear, hiking boots, camera, camera cords/ film, light jacket for summer, heavy jacket for spring and fall, hunting gear, fishing gear, personal hygiene items.

When is your hunting season?
Our Spring season begins the middle of May and ends the middle of June.
Our Fall season begins the end of August and ends the middle of September.
With which items may I hunt?
Both seasons are the same. You may hunt with a rifle, muzzle loader and archery. Do NOT bring a hand gun. You MUST bring your own weapon for your hunt.
Do you hunt over dumps?
No! We bait each of our sites and we use trail cams to oversee action at each of our sites.
Do I need to bring my own stand?
No, we provide them. You will need to bring your own safety harness or safety belt.
About how far will I be from the bait site?
You will sit in a stand approximately 15 - 20 yards. You won't need a scope.
Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?
If you are a hunter, we will provide fishing gear for you at no additional cost.
Do you provide laundry services?
No, there are no laundry services available.
