FAQ — Black Bear Island Lodge

Question 1

How do I get to Black Bear Island Lodge?

Accepted Answer

The lodge is accessible by floatplane only. Most guests fly into Prince Albert (YPA), Saskatchewan, then drive approximately 2.5 hours north to La Ronge. From La Ronge, a floatplane takes you directly to the lodge on the Churchill River System.

Question 2

What is included in the package?

Accepted Answer

Our all-inclusive packages include lodging in your own private cabin, all meals (breakfast and supper served in the main lodge, shore lunch on the water), guide services, boat and motor, and floatplane transport to and from La Ronge.

Question 3

What species can I expect to catch?

Accepted Answer

The Churchill River System is world-renowned for trophy Northern Pike and Walleye. Pike exceeding 40 inches are common, and our remote, exclusive access means minimal fishing pressure and consistently large fish.

Question 4

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Question 5

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

We recommend layered clothing for variable weather, rain gear, sun protection, personal fishing tackle (though we can provide basics), a valid Saskatchewan fishing license, and any personal medications. A full packing list will be provided upon booking.

Question 6

Is internet available at the lodge?

Accepted Answer

Limited internet is available daily after supper. The lodge experience is designed to be a true wilderness escape, so we encourage guests to disconnect and enjoy the surroundings.

Question 7

How many guests can the lodge accommodate?

Accepted Answer

Black Bear Island Lodge is an exclusive facility with limited capacity to ensure a premium, uncrowded experience. Contact us for current availability and group size options.

Question 8

Do you offer bear hunting packages?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer color phase black bear hunting packages in the surrounding wilderness. Saskatchewan is home to some of the most spectacular color phase black bears in North America. Contact us for details and availability.
