It appears we will be able to open for our 2022 season. There are still regulations in place. Click on the link to regard regulations that may apply to you.

January 25, 2022

We are hearing rumors that provinces are moving to lift restrictions. What this means is still unknown but sounds promising. We are keeping up on any updates but as mentioned before, April will be our deciding factor for the season. The best way to contact us: email, instagram messages or facebook messages. We are looking forward to opening for our 2022 season and hope the government will work with us.

July 12, 2021

Because the lodge won’t open for our 2021 season, we are adjusting bookings again. All bookings from 2020 - 2021 are in the process of being moved to 2022. An email will be sent with an explanation as to how we are moving dates. The second email will have the guest’s new booking date. All communication must be done through email or our Black Bear Island Lodge facebook or instagram account. Please do not use DJ or Dawn's personal account. It will not be answered.

April 30, 2021

This is where we are drawing our latest information.

Update: Feb 18, 2021

First, the boarder is closed for all non-essential travel.

According to the Canadian regulations, you must have a negative covid tests within 72 hours prior to arrival, then you are administered another test upon arrival in Canada. A mandatory 3 day quarantine is required at your expense, but must be Canadian government pre-approved hotel. Once that is completed and you show no signs of being ill, there is yet another test and quarantine…. for further information, see TRAVEL link below.

Because the regulations change so frequently, we are waiting until May 1, 2021 to give BBIL’s expectations.

Update: July 8, 2020

We find ourselves in the same place as many other lodges. There are too many restrictions to allow us to function properly. One is especially for our American guests. Crossing the boarder requires a 2 week quarantine. (see government update below)

The guidelines mandated effects shore lunch, number of people in each boat, and gathering places are limited. We had hoped that being in the wilderness ie. fresh clean air and water would exempt us from these regulations. Unfortunately, we remain under these guidelines.
Although we have staff at the lodge throughout the season, we will not be reopening for our 2020 season. We are extremely disappointed with this outcome, as we are sure you are too. If you were booked for our 2020 dates and need to move your reservation to 2021, please do so by Sept. 1, 2020. We will transfer all your information to 2021. Once you receive a confirmation letter from us for your new dates, you will be set. If you do not receive a confirmation letter from us within a few days of your requested change, please contact us. No requested dates from you by Sept.1, 2020, will indicate that you are forfeiting your 2020 deposit.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience due to the government’s decision. We look forward to seeing everyone in our 2021 season.

Government Update

Update: May 27, 2020

Black Bear Island Lodge has always had the policy: no refund or transfer on any of our packages for any reason. BBIL is not canceling your trip, the government has enforced all lodge closures. Since this involves you and BBIL, we are willing to allow a date transfer. This is why we are giving our 2020 (booked) guests an option on moving dates to available vacancies for the end of 2020 or 2021. This option expires Sept 1, 2020. If you haven’t contacted us and received a conformation letter, we are assuming your dates will remain as is, and if you don’t arrive, your deposit is forfeited.

Update: May 3, 2020

We are just as unhappy about these mandatory changes. We do not want you to miss out on your trip of a lifetime! We are working with the little information available to everyone. This information is for those who have already given a deposit for dates in 2020 at our lodge. Our offer to change your 2020 dates is available through Sept 1, 2020. You may move towards fall 2020 (provided we may legally open). The other option is to move your dates to 2021 dates upon availability.

IF, in the past, you have discussed dates with our office, your requested date has been moved, but you will still need a confirmation letter to confirm move. Please do not panic, just send an email to below address and we will re-issue your letter.
It could be as simple as an incorrect email address in our system.

The offer to move a deposit with your new date is valid through Sept 1, 2020.

To change your dates, please send an email to the address below. We will not make changes without a ‘written’ form. Again, your rescheduled dates are only valid with a new confirmation letter.
